Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 AT 1:58 PM The picture I sent you is above the oil pan and is the crank sensor. Roy Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 AT 2:00 PM This is what I got. But the one above my oil pan is smaller and the connector points out not up? And the one above my oil pan has a hard plastic rubber thick ring where the gold is on the picture below. Did I get the wrong one? Image (Click to enlarge) Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 AT 6:37 AM This is what it looks like above my oil pan. I just checked at many stores and yes, that is the correct sensor. It may look different but that is due to manufacturing. Roy Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 AT 6:49 AM So I don t need the long one? Where do I find the crankshaft positioning sensor. How difficult will it be. And if there is pictures or diagrams you can send that would be awsome. Tuesday, December 15th, 2020 AT 10:05 AM (Merged) The CKP sensor is located on the back of the engine and runs off the flywheel/driveplate. Can be quiet complicated to gain access to if you do not have much experience with something like this. Thanks for using 2CarPros. Com! My truck backfires and loses power when first cranked and loses rpm's and backfires within first three to six miles. Replaced rotary cap, button wires and plugs. Want to replace crankshaft position sensor just do not know where it is located. Tuesday, December 15th, 2020 AT 10:07 AM (Merged) Not the normal failure mode for a crank sensor. They normally either fail to work at all or they act up when hot. Backfires and low power on a cold engine sounds more like a vacuum leak that gets better as the engine warms up. As for the sensor, it is bolted onto the right rear of the engine at the block/bellhousing split line just above the exhaust manifold.
