Measuring For A Storm Door

Don't get intimidated when it comes to preparing for your new storm door. We'll take you step-by-step through the measurements you'll need to ensure a perfect fit.

Follow the measuring guide below or watch the ‘How to Measure’ video.  Record your measurements and take them to your nearest LARSON dealer.

Measure the opening width (horizontally) as shown below. Take three measurements, one across the top, middle and bottom of the door (A, B, C). Record the narrowest dimension. Measure the opening height (vertically).  Record the shortest dimension.

The door is an attractive, high quality, 5-star product; installation instructions and process are a 3 to 4-star. We just installed new vinyl siding and aluminum soffit and fascia on our house and screened in our front porch. I wanted an attractive, quality door that would be maintenance-free. I also wanted a 5-bar style so my dog could sit inside and look out, but couldn't punch through the screen after a squirrel or something. My perfect door was very hard to find available to ship within a week, but this one fit the order perfectly! I had my contractor install it, and he said the instructions were definitely lacking. On the pros, you can set it up (left/right) exactly how you need to, but then nothing is predrilled or set on the door when it arrives in the box. So, it could be tough for a novice. Good packaging--no issues there. Some issues and slight delay with FedEx--not Wayfair's fault. Overall, I'd buy the door again and do recommend because it's perfect!. Dana. What is standard size of screen and storm door?

Most standard storm door sizes are 32" and 36" wide, some models are also available in 30" and 34". Custom storm doors are available in many models, up to 8' high.

Which is better aluminum or wood core storm door?

Aluminum is the most popular material for storm doors because of its superior weather resistance and easy installation. It is sold in varying levels of thickness – the thicker the door, the more durable it is. Other storm doors come with a wood core, but they aren't as sturdy as aluminum-clad units.

What size storm door do you need for a 36 inch door?

A standard 36x80 door will fit. Just make sure if you need it hinged left or right.

What is the difference between a screen and storm door?

Storm doors are designed to protect your home's entry door while screen doors mainly keep out bugs while allowing for air to circulate through your house. Storm doors are also typically heavier and made out of aluminum and tempered glass.
