U.S. News and World Report has listed Killeen in the top five for best places to live in Texas.

Killeen took the number five spot, coming behind San Antonio.

Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston rounded out the top three.

They reached number five for a number of reasons like low unemployment rates which the chamber of commerce says is greatly due to Fort Hood.

”I think that the low unemployment rate has a lot to do with the fact that we are a military town," said Jennifer Hetzel, Director of Research for Killeen Chamber of Commerce. "We have a lot of soldiers in our community as well as a lot of people that work on post for the DoD, contractors, ect. So, that have very stable employment.”
