How to transfer Bitcoin from Coinbase to Exodus (Desktop)?
To get started, sign in to your Coinbase account.
From there, to access your portfolio click Portfolio.
Next, scroll down to Your Assets and click Bitcoin to access the Coinbase BTC wallet.
Once you’re in the Coinbase Bitcoin wallet, click Send.
You’ll now see a Send BTC popup that asks for a BTC address, which you’ll get shortly from your Exodus wallet.
Ignore the Email Address tab - this is only used if you’re sending to another Coinbase account.
There are no network fees for sending to an email address (another Coinbase account) because such transactions are not recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain. They are only recorded in Coinbase’s internal systems, which means they are reversible, freezable, and otherwise controlled by a third party (Coinbase).
Is there a fee to send Bitcoin from Coinbase to Exodus?
Bitcoin blockchain transactions have fees to pay Bitcoin miners, who validate Bitcoin transactions. These fees do not go to Coinbase or Exodus.

To get your BTC address from Exodus, open Exodus, click the a) Wallet icon, then click b) Bitcoin. Next, click the c) Receive button.
You should now see a screen with some Bitcoin addresses you can use to receive BTC. Choose one of the addresses, preferably an unused one and click the Copy icon to copy your address to your clipboard.
Now that you’ve copied your Bitcoin address from your Exodus wallet, go back to Coinbase and paste the address in the Recipient box.
Double-check that your Exodus Bitcoin wallet address and address that you pasted in the Coinbase Send BTC Recipient box match! A quick way to do this is to use something like //countwordsfree.com/comparetexts to compare two texts to see if they’re the same.
After you’ve checked that the addresses match, enter how much Bitcoin you want to send from Coinbase to Exodus. You can enter the amount in USD (or whatever your local currency is) or in BTC. You can also enter an optional note to associate with the transaction.
Once you’ve entered an amount to send (and maybe a note), click Continue.
A confirmation screen will appear with all the transaction details, click Confirm.
Make sure everything looks okay and enter your 2-step verification code if you have two-factor authentication (2FA) setup. Once that’s done, hit Confirm and your Bitcoin will be on its way from Coinbase to your Exodus wallet!
After about 10 minutes, your Bitcoin should show up in your Exodus wallet. However, do note that it’s possible for the transaction to take longer if the network is congested. For example, in December 2017, when Bitcoin was all over the news and hit $20,000 per BTC, transactions were taking anywhere from 30 minutes to 16 hours (in extreme cases) to confirm.
Unfortunately, longer transaction times are something outside of the control of both Coinbase and Exodus and hopefully, the Bitcoin community is able to figure out the “scalability problem” (Bitcoin’s ability to handle many transactions at once) with solutions like Lightning Network.
Coinbase withdrawals can be delayed for 72 hours if you send to a cryptocurrency address you haven’t sent to before.
To get rid of this delay, you have to complete identity verification, which includes sending Coinbase photos of your ID and of yourself. This is necessary even if you’ve already verified your identity with Coinbase before.
Although this might have been planned by Coinbase as a legitimate security feature (someone taking control of your account and sending your crypto to an address that isn’t yours), it also is extremely inconvenient. Not to mention that it promotes poor privacy practices like reusing addresses (to avoid the inconvenience of ID verification to remove withdrawal delays).
Even if you aren’t a terrorist, money launderer, or otherwise shady character and don’t feel a need to hide your financial activity by using new addresses for every transaction, we at Exodus think that your privacy is important. After all, would you want someone being able to see all of your credit/debit card transactions?
While centralized exchanges might provide some benefits to users, privacy and control of your money (vs. someone being able to freeze it) unfortunately aren’t included.
How to transfer Bitcoin from Coinbase to Exodus (Mobile)?

However, for the other way around (Exodus to Coinbase), you might have to enter an XRP tag since centralized exchanges like Coinbase do not create unique XRP addresses for each user. Instead, they will use one or a few XRP addresses to receive XRP and then keep track of customers’ XRP in their system using different XRP tags for each customer.
On the other hand, your Exodus XRP wallet’s address is unique to you, and you don’t need to enter an XRP tag because you’re in control of your XRP, not us. For more information, see our article on memos, destination, tags, messages, and payment IDs.

How to move from Coinbase to Exodus for cryptos that aren’t the ones listed above?
Generally the process for sending any asset to your Exodus wallet from Coinbase will be the same:
1 Go to the asset’s wallet in Coinbase 2 Hit send 3 Enter an amount to send 4 Enter your Exodus wallet address to send to 5 Double-check all the details 6 Confirm sendFor assets where this isn’t the case, there will be some sort of note, such as mention of a Memo for the asset EOS.
You don’t have to enter a memo or destination tag to send assets to your Exodus wallet, as mentioned earlier for XRP.
Coinbase to Exodus with no fee
Want to know how to transfer from Coinbase to Exodus no fee?
This can be especially useful to know when networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum are congested and fees start getting high. For example, during the end of 2017, this probably could have saved you an average of ~$55 per BTC transaction towards the end of December 2017, the peak of the 2017 cryptocurrency bull market.
This method involves using Coinbase Pro, which can be a bit daunting at first since it’s designed for advanced crypto traders rather than everyday users. If you’re a trader, you shouldn’t have any problems navigating the interface but if you’re not, don’t worry - we got you covered!
First, go to pro.coinbase.com and click Log In in the top right.
From here, you can login using your regular Coinbase account.
Once you’re in, click Withdraw on the left to select the asset you’re looking to send to your Exodus wallet.
In this case, we’ll select XRP (the process is the same for other assets like Bitcoin, and Ether - except that there might not be mention of something similar to an “XRP Tag”, depending on the asset).
Once you’re in the Withdraw XRP screen, you’ll have to get your Exodus XRP address (we’ll retrieve it shortly) and enter it in the Destination field.
To get your Exodus XRP wallet address, go to your Exodus wallet, select the Wallet app and then select XRP. Then hit the Receive button:
You’ll then see your Exodus XRP wallet address, which you can now copy to your clipboard.
Go back to Coinbase Pro to enter your XRP address in the Destination field.
You do not need to include an XRP Tag to send XRP from Coinbase to your Exodus wallet so put a check next to the Check box if your send does not require an XRP Tag.
Then enter the amount you want to send and hit WITHDRAW XRP.
The part that says “XRP network transfers are fast and free” will be the same for other assets like BTC. Instead of saying “XRP network transfers are fast and free”, the text will read “BTC network transfers are fast and free”.
If you have 2-step verification enabled, enter your 2-step verification code and hit WITHDRAW FUNDS.
When withdrawing, you might be asked by Coinbase to save the address to your address book for faster withdrawals next time. It’s up to you whether or not you’d like to take this step.
You should see your XRP in your Exodus wallet after a few seconds:
Coinbase to Exodus with no fee (Mobile)
Currently, this method of sending crypto from Coinbase to Exodus for no fee using Coinbase Pro seems to only work on desktop:

How long does Coinbase to Exodus take?
As mentioned in the different sections of this article:
- Bitcoin will take around 10 minutes

For other assets, we recommend looking up the asset’s “confirmation time” or “transaction time”.
Again, remember that transactions can take longer for certain assets during high usage times, such as late 2017, when many people were trying to use cryptocurrency.
What to do if the transfer is taking longer than usual?
If your Coinbase transfer to Exodus is taking abnormally long (e.g. Bitcoin transfer is taking hours or even days), first check that the transaction details, such as your Exodus wallet address, are all correct.
Also check that your Coinbase withdrawal to your Exodus wallet wasn’t delayed, for reasons like sending to an address Coinbase hasn’t seen before.

Can I transfer from your Coinbase USD (United States dollar) wallet to Exodus?
If you’re looking to transfer USD (or your local government-owned currency) from Coinbase to Exodus, we have some bad news:
Exodus doesn’t support fiat currency (money that doesn’t have inherent value, like most government currencies)!
Can I buy crypto on Coinbase and have your coins automatically deposited to your Exodus wallet?
We’re not aware of any feature on Coinbase that lets you buy on Coinbase and have your coins automatically deposited to your Exodus wallet.

Do I have to use Coinbase with Exodus?
You do not have to use Coinbase with Exodus wallet in order to first buy crypto with government currencies like USD and EUR and then send from Coinbase to Exodus.
There are other centralized exchange services you can use like Binance, Kraken, Bitstamp, and others. You can also choose peer-to-peer (P2P) options where you trade with other crypto users directly. P2P services include the likes of Local Bitcoins, Paxful, and Bisq.
