How much is a copy of Antonius Stradivarius worth?
Anywhere from $50 to $50,000 depending on its maker.
Were any Stradivarius violins made in Germany?
Hundreds of thousands of reproduction violins have been made since the mid-1800s, so there is no reason the family story of an 1897 purchase isn't accurate. The absolute giveaway for non-authenticity is on the label. All supposed Stradivarius violins marked “Made in Germany” are bogus.
How do I identify a Stradivarius copy?
The Label – To really know if it's an original one you can always identify it in the instrument's label. Stradivari's violins always had a label that read “Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno”, followed by the year they were made.
How many Stradivarius copies are there?
How Many Stradivarius Violins Been Made? The 960 instruments were violins, and the rest were violas, cellos, guitars, and harps. Unfortunately, out of that number, only about 650 are in existence right now, and only over 200 violins were accounted for.
