i purchased this product before and it works great with my hair. Unfortunately, the product that was sent wasn't what was on the picture. I already have what they sent and It doesn't work for my hair.

The media could not be loaded.

The photo on this product listing shows an 8 oz CurlForming custard “with honey & chamomile” yet what I received is 12 oz of just “Curl Forming Custard”. The two are not the same nor do the work the same! The first is golden goodness in a jar. This new stuff leaves my hair stuff & Gomes a gummy, glue-like film that’s tacky & looks/feels gross. Refund requested 1)for false advertising; 2)because I need the actual product that was falsely advertised.

I want a lifetime supply of this. I've been increasingly trying DE products over the past year and nothing has inspired me more than this one here. I use it as a sealer for my leave-in conditioner after I wash my hair before applying shea butter and coconut oil. It makes me hair unbelievably soft and pliable. The smell is ridiculously good, can't get enough of it. And it even works well as a hair gel when I want to slick back my locks with a bristle brush.

I've never been good at hair and still don't claim to be even remotely close, and when I went natural in 2013, it's been a nonstop journey of struggle, agony, nostalgia, and pain. That said, the Mixed Chicks line and DE have been instrumental in reconnecting me with love for my hair. I have a mix of 3c/4a curls and a patch of eternally dry curls at the crown of my head that just refuse to grow. I have been using this custard and the Almond Avacado leave-in for almost a month and now more than ever, my hair feels manageable, soft, alive, and moisturized. I don't know that this product actually advertises giving moisture to hair, but I like to think it helps do that for me. As for curl-forming or elongating, I think it can do that too, but when I used it and diffused for the first time in my life, I didn't look cute.. And maybe that's my own fault, but who knows. This works best for me when I braid up my hair.

Best aspects: scent, moisture, SOFTENING, sheen, did I mention scent?
-good consistency, honey colored, requires about a silver dollar-sized amount (depending on hair thickness) (I usually use this and more)
-I would highly recommend this product

I found this product by accident at Ulta, and I'm now a huge fan. Not only does it smell good (a light honey scent), but it's one of the only products I've found that will hold my curls to make them LOOK like curls (rather than curly frizz, or pulls my curls straight-ish), but it lasts for days, and my hair is shinier, too. It's mostly natural ingredients, so no chemical feel or hair reactions to it, and it's easy to clean up - no lasting sticky or slimy residue on my hands. I also use the same Brand's Honey and Shea Edge Tamer. My only "con" to it is the curl gel is a bit more "liquidy" than some gels or custards, so you have to be careful with the jar when traveling. One jar will last about a month - a little goes a long way, especially in concert with the edge tamer for me. I love it, as my curls feel bouncy and happy, not defined-but-crunchy to keep it that way, nor is it strung out, tired, or listless after a day on the move.

I love this gel. When i was first learning how to style my wash n go, with my natural hair, this was the first product I found. there is a trick to using this, however. It is best to apply this product WHILE your hair is wet, not damp, and only using it in combination with the brand's leave in or the lotion, works great too. Using other products with this can cause flakes, or cause it to not work as well. I apply this product while my hair is wet, in sections. then I scrunch out excess water, using a microfiber towel, with my head upside down (so my curls don't get stuck to my scalp). Then i allow to air dry; IF there is a cast, i scrunch out the cast with a satin headwrap/scarf (this gets rid of the crunchy/hard cast). Now keep in mind, that just because it worked for me, it does not mean it will work for everyone else, and that is ok. But overall this product is really good, i also love their mousse and use their mousse for those hotter humid days, in Italy. ( i have a mix of 3b & 3c fine-medium coarse, low & high porosity curls).

I believe shipping their product in this heat was not a good idea. I was under the impression the product had a jell-like consistency. I have a jar of a liquified product. Not happy about wasting twenty-plus dollars.

I’ve tried every product imaginable for my curly hair and this has proven to be the best find EVER. My hair is course, dry, and frizzy. Gel controls the frizz but makes my hair crunchy and stiff. I tried Diva Curl but my hair fell out in clumps. This product controls my frizz, but leaves my curls soft. Also-when I rinse it out it leaves my hair feeling conditioned unlike gel that would strip all moisture from my hair. Totally impressed with this stuff. I’m a brand advocate.

This has become my go to product for my curly hair. I put it on right after I was my hair before getting out of the shower. I learned that I get the best results by using it mid to ends since getting it to close to my roots makes my hair look greasy and flat. Let it dry or blow dry and scrunch the crunch and I'm good to go. Normally dont even need to use anything else!

I have become a big fan of this whole line! The shampoo is hands down one of the best shampoos to exist. So naturally I wanted to venture out, especially at the affordable price range. I paired it with the leave in and it was quite moisturizing and gave my curls a lot of definition and hold. I definitely used to much per section, so it came out a bit sticky, so don't make my mistake! Which means more bang for the buck, as a little will go a long way.

This is maybe my second review ever on Amazon, and I have been shopping this site for years. I am in LOOOOVE with this product. I go for the natural fluffy curl look, and in order to achieve that I have tried Jam Gel, Argon Oil, Shea Moisture products, Curls Unleashed, Mixed Chicks -- you name it, and nothing works like this stuff. I use One 'n Only Keratin Curl Remover to smooth out the kink in my hair, and that effort combined with this amazing product, I have a beautiful light natural curl. I used to use the Design Essentials Crème Gel, and I thought that was a fantastic product, but it will flake a bit if you don't wash it out after a couple of days, and it is similar to a gel in that your hair will stick together if you don't fluff it enough, and when you fluff it some of the curl definition is lost. This stuff doesn't leave a residue, doesn't leave your hair feeling hard or stringy, it's just so good...and you don't have to use much at all! It's a small container, but just a dollop will go a long way. I just love it.
