Model Number FGHN2844LF1 Brand Frigidaire Age 6-10 years Good day I have a frigidaire gallery fridge without water dispenser model # FGHN2844LF1 the interior light inside the fridge will not turn off. When I Close the
door the temperature display turns off but the interior light stays on. I have looked for a physical switch none located then I looked with a magnet along the frame no luck. Bulbs are turning the interior brown like they are melting the plastic. The bulbs are not led they appear to be conventional bulbs.

Hi, Here's the parts diagram for your model: Parts for Frigidaire FGHN2844LF1: Cabinet Parts #14 is your
light switch, it looks like its on the left interior side wall towards the middle. Do you see it? If you don't see it you have the magnetic door switch incorporated into the user interface: If its not in-stock at RepairClinic, its in-stock here: Check that board with a magnet to see if the light turns off, if not then your control board underneath the refrigerator is the culprit. Here's the control board underneath the refrigerator: Jake
Thank you for your advice the item marked #14 is light switch for the freezer. When I look for a switch inside the refrigerator I find none. When I Close my refrigerator doors the light inside the refrigerator part stays on. The panel displaying temp turns off when doors are closed so something is telling the refrigerator that the door is closed but the lights are not getting the
message. Are there two switches independently wired if so we're is it located?

Yes, they are independent light switches. Jake
Good day. I have replaced the main control board underneath the refrigerator and The light turns off now in the refrigerator!!! Thanks Jake! JakeAppliance Tech - Admin
Excellent, glad to hear that. Thanks for the update! Jake
I can speak from experience, since I just fixed this issue on the exact same model yesterday morning. The following is for the standard model, not the LED light version, which has slightly different wiring. To test the switch takes a "strong" magnet (mine was holding a picture on the door). Hold the magnet over the "C/F" on the display. If the display goes off, then the
switch is OK, and probably the display circuit board it is on is good. This really only leaves one option, the main control board on the bottom of the refrigerator. This board has the device (a triac) that is used to control the power to the lights. When these fail, they fail shorted (conducting), which is why the lights stay on. The real issue is that there a four 40 watt bulbs in the fridge (two in the top and two behind the drawers), which will generate more heat than it can keep cool. That's
why the freezer will still work, but the fridge section will continue to get warmer. A quick fix is to unscrew the bulbs until the board can be replaced. If this has just happened, the bulbs will be hot, so you might need to use an oven mitt to remove them, or unplug the fridge and let them cool off first. If the fridge starts cooling off after unscrewing them, you found the problem. My guess as to why they fail, is when a bulb burns out and happens to short out. That would result in an
overload on the triac, since there is no fuse to protect them. As those of you that own these refrigerators know, the lights turn on slowly when the doors are opened. This is why they don't just use a switch to control the lights directly. The control board is not that difficult to replace and can be done without pulling the refrigerator away from the wall (unless you need to unplug it). Mine is on a separate circuit breaker, so I was able to just turn it off. There are some good videos on
youtube showing how to replace it, and it takes less than 30 minutes. Plus, you get a chance to finally clean the freezer compartment, which needs to be open to have enough room to replace it. Note about the freezer basket: You can't just lift it straight up, the back has to be lifted out first. Unload it before taking it out. Why is my refrigerator LED light not working? If your refrigerator light is not coming on, it may be that the bulb has reached the end of its lifespan and has burned out. Check the bulb to see if it has a dark area in the bulb or has a broken and loose filament. When you shake the bulb, you may hear a rattling noise if the filament inside is damaged.
