How to get pregnant using ovulation tests

If the test indicates that you're ovulating, your ovary should release an egg within 1 – 3 days after a positive ovulation test. Then it is immediately ready for fertilization. You can have sex with your partner two days after getting a positive ovulation test.

The best time to start testing ovulation is a few days before you're scheduled to ovulate. Ovulation occurs midway through your menstrual cycle, give or take a few days. Your most fertile days of the month are 1 to 2 days before and after your ovaries release an egg.

For the most accurate result, health care providers suggest testing twice a day, 10 hours or more apart, for a few days prior to ovulation.

The best time to take an ovulation test is with the second morning urine – roughly between 10 am and noon. The ovulation predictor test looks for a hormone called LH or luteinizing hormone in your urine. LH hormone surges 24 to 36 hours before you ovulate.
