How to reset brake system light on honda civic

If the Honda Civic is not starting and has a brake system problem indicator light on will likely be due to a problem with the electronic parking brake that is stuck. It could also be a problem with the battery or the terminals for the battery. Consumers have stated the same problem with a brake system light and not able to tart the vehicle. This is caused by a bad battery which either needs to be charged or replaced. The cost for a new battery will range from $100 - $150 depending on the quality and brand. One thing to check is to make sure Your battery is charging properly.

If a honda civic won't start due to the brake it is likely related to the electronic parking brake that is stuck on and you will want to pull the fuse to that.

Where is the fuse box on the Honda

I am having the same issue. I am reaching out to Honda Service tomorrow for an appointment. When I attempt to start my car receive the following Alerts In the screen on my gauge cluster. Electric Brake System Problem, Parking System Problem, Parking Hold System Problem. When this occurs I cannot start my car. The problem is that this has been occurring intermittently. I'm not quiet sure if there is recall where this can be fixed with an update. Hopefully I have better advice later. If anyone has a solution I am all ears. 2019 Honda Civic Sedan Sport (no turbo, automatic)

Should anyone be Googling and come across this page, let me tell you now, this is an easy fix. You have a low charge in your battery. Hook it up to a charger and give it an hour. Once reconnected, the issue will go away. For faster relief, attempt to jump the car with regular cables and another working vehicle. Hope this helps you.

Hey sometimes in my dash of my 2018 Honda civic it shows the braking system and my car want startwithout and bust and ltook it to the shop and they said it wasnothing

I’m having the exact issue as @TAZcivic. I fully recharged the battery but it worked only temporarily. The car wouldn’t start few hours later. Any solutions? 2017 Civic and the warranty expired couple of months ago.

I just had this problem it gave me brake system problem, electric brake system problem etc this may work for some of you my car just needed a jump and it was good. A good way to check if you need a jump is to just check your headlights and high beams if the high beams don't work a jump should fix your problem with the braking system as it did for me

I had this problem and then the whole dash lit up like a Christmas tree! Car starts, but every system in it is showing an error. I dropped it off at the dealership today, we will see what they say. It's a 2018 Civic Sport with a 6 speed manual. Even the shifter felt off.

I hate when people answer that do not know what they are talking about. There is no fuse for.the electronic parking brake ALMA! (SEE ANSWER ABOVE) You must jump start.your car. Your battery was drained, or you have a dying or dead battery.

I just had this problem yesterday in my 2019 Civic. But it is because the bank that is financing the car, disabled the car, for not making the payments..

Had the same issue with my 2019 Honda Civic first I though the battery went bad but it was actually the ABS fuse after replacing it car started without problem still trying to figure out what cause the fuse to go bad

My 2018 Civic EX-T just started doing this yesterday. Worked fine all day then went to start it again a few hours later and won’t start. The engine made a clicking noise and I got the break system error on the dash. Checked the battery and the charge was at 80%, but I fully charged it anyway to see if that would help, but it still won’t start, and now it doesn’t even make the clicking noise and the dash doesn’t light up at all. I was told it may be a main relay issue. Has anyone else had to change a relay to fix this?

Same thing happened to my 2020 Honda Accord last night. It was working fine and then suddenly when I wenton to start the car, all the warning lights started popping up on the speedometer. My parking break went down, my engine dropped dead and power windows won't work. Fortunately, someone had a jumper cable and I was able to jump start the car. I can't believe this is happening to a less than 2 years old car.

Charge your battery. Fixed my issue

I just got my Honda Accord months ago. A new 2022 and the dashboard warning lights all came on, pushed down the break and it was lose. The break pushed all the way down and jolted. The dealer replaced the battery as it still is under warranty. My concern is the feeling of the break pushing all the way down. Is this normal. I am afraid of driving it like this.

2022 civic touring. Was sitting in my car parked and running in accessory mode. After 50 mins, brake system is arming came on, next was the abs warning, and then I noticed my entertainment system switched off. Tried to start my car and it wouldnt. The brake pedal felt locked up too. Turned car off and waited 5 minutes. Stepped firm on the brake and start again. Luckily this time it started. Seems to be caused by draining the battery. Drove it around afterwards and didn’t have any issues.

Right now I experienced exactly same problem with electronic brake system and car won't start. I unplugged both ends of battery, but it did not help. AND THEN I RECHARGED BATTERY BY JUMP CABLES AND IT STARTED. Now i am going to change this s**t battery

I have been having the same issues with my honda 2019 civic sport for the last couple weeks. Did anyone find out what it actually was. I been driving my car all day and just went to start it to go to the store and the brake system failure came on s the whole car down.

Got the brake msg, car did not start. A quick-Jump attempt failed. I should have waited with the nearby car jumper cable connection longer? The battery was 4 years old. I had been using a cell charger while parked for a long period immediately prior to the non-start issue. Reluctantly, I purchased a new battery. The engine fired pronto. All dash panel lit up but turned off after two-minute drive. Later tested battery. It was dead!
