Day 4 in a nutshell!

Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma were batting on 14 and 4 respectively when play was called off eight short of the stipulated 90 overs because of bad light. Stumps on Day 4 | India 181/6 after 82 overs | Lead by 154 runs

A smart tactical move from India! Virat Kohli and co. from the dressing room sent in 12th man Hanuma Vihari with the drinks bottle and a message to Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma. They soon after that ask the umpires about the lights as it was getting really dark. England were going to take the second new ball and the umpires did not allow that. They then asked the players to go in for stumps and both sides agree to it. Pant and Ishant happily walk back to the pavilion with England players behind them. So, stumps it is on Day 4!

India 181/6 after 82 overs | Lead by 154 runs

The light has gone down drastically in the last 10-15 minutes and skipper Virat Kohli, from the balcony is is indicating his batsmen in the middle to talk to the umpires about it. England are also taking the second new ball now. Not sure how long the day's play will last now!

Moeen to Jadeja | OUT!

That was absolutely unplayable! A ripper from Moeen Ali and it takes the top of the off stump of Ravindra Jadeja. Angled in delivery from around the wicket and it turns away sharply after pitching. Goes past Jadeja's bat and clips the top of the off stump. Jadeja walks back for 3. IND 175/6 after 79.1 overs, lead by 148 runs

India 175/5 after 79 overs

Joe Root getting through his overs very quickly. Just one more over to go for the second new ball. Will England take the second new ball straightaway? Moeen Ali, at the other end is breathing fire with this old ball.

Moeen to Rahane | OUT!

Huge blow for India as set Ajinkya Rahane falls for 61. A slight lapse in concentration as Rahane edges a straight delivery from Moeen Ali to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. A faint edge but the umpire raises his finger instantly. A solid knock from Rahane comes to an end. England bounce back in the contest with two quick wickets. IND 167/5 after 76 overs, lead by 140 runs

India 165/4 after 75 overs, lead by 138 runs

Moeen Ali and Joe Root operating in tandem at the moment. England are eagerly waiting for the second new ball. It will be due in 5 overs from now. Ajinkya Rahane solid in the middle and he has been recently joined by Rishabh Pant.

Wood to Pujara | OUT!

That just took off out of no where! A length ball from Wood and it rises sharply after pitching. A discomforting delivery and Cheteshwar Pujara could not have done much about that. Fails to bring down his hands in time. Gloves the ball straight to Joe Root at second slip. Pujara walks back after scoring a resilient 45 off 206 balls. Falls shortly after a 100-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane. IND 155/4 after 72.4 overs, lead by 128 runs

India 149/3 after 71 overs, lead by 122 runs

Runs flowing more regularly now for India! Four runs in the previous over from Sam Curran and now Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara collect 5 off the over from Moeen Ali. Second new ball will be available to England after 9 overs. Joe Root now comes into the attack!

50 for Ajinkya Rahane!

A terrific knock from the India vice-captain. Ajinkya Rahane was struggling for runs before this knock and was fighting for his place in the side. But today, when India were under the pump, Rahane has risen to the occasion and delivered. He has taken the India out of trouble. Gets to his 24th Test fifty off 125 balls. A very crucial knock from Rahane in context of this game! IND 139/3 after 67.5 overs, lead by 112 runs

India 121/3 after 63 overs | Lead by 94 runs

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane continue to frustrate England bowlers. Both have not scored much of runs in this final session so far but have kept their wickets intact, showing their solid defensive techniques. James Anderson and Sam Curran operating at the moment for England.

Anderson to Rahane | Caught behind review from England | Rahane survives!

That was a peach of a delivery from James Anderson but England miss the trick by taking the review. Apart from Anderson no one went up for an appeal. Joe Root, in desperation, takes the review. UltraEdge confirms that there is no bat involved even though it was pretty close. Rahane survives! England lose their second review!

Rahane dropped!

A terrific attempt from Jonny Bairstow at point but he fails to hold on to the catch. A wide delivery outside off from Moeen Ali and Ajinkya Rahane tries to cut it away from his body. Hits the ball in the air. Bairstow dives to his right, gets both the hands under the ball but fails to complete the catch. Rahane gets a lifeline on 31.

Probably the best shot Cheteshwar Pujara has played so far. James Anderson goes short and wide outside off and Pujara hits it past the point fielder to collect his first boundary of the third session. IND 117/3 after 56.2 overs, lead by 90 runs.
