about 15-25 mph I hit a patch of uneven/patchwork/potholley road and I get some MAJOR wobble. So much so the entire jeep was somewhat violently shaking and the tires shaking/wobbling I felt was almost enough to bring the Jeep to a complete stop. I continue to go home to investigate further in my garage, albeit weary driving home. It turns out I can feel something give/move every time I change direction with the steering wheel. I'm underneath and triple check everything to make sure everything is tight, which they are. Then I notice the Heim Joint on the driver side of the Front Track bar moves within rod end. Not much but about, ~2-3mm each side?
Is that enough to translate into the severe wobble I experienced.
I was able to reproduce it on a side road near my house. Last edited by Major Ho; 02-22-2008 at 06:16 AM. JK Newbie

Yes. IIRC I removed the factory one and replaced it with the RE one after I installed the front control arms. The bolt is the perfect fit for it ala RE kit supplied. Quote: Originally Posted by n8it That is enough movement to be an issue. Replace the joint. My new question then is, how often does/should something like happen? Was this just a freak incident after a weekend of hard wheeling? Or should I look foward to regularly replacing that joint. joint" I looked around and was unable to find a Currie Adjustable Front Track Bar for the JK. Could you point me in the right direction, I will most likely be upgrading to yours to help avoid future problems with this joint. Quote: Originally Posted by David @ Currie Ent. At this time we do not offer a "narrow" Johnny Joint with a 3/4" stud. Currie Trac Bars use the 1" stud design. |
