Paul Simon Loves Me Like A Rock

Lyricist:Paul Simon
Composer:Paul Simon

When I was a little boy, when I was just a boy
And the devil would call my name, when I was just a boy
I say now who do, who do you think your fooling?
When I was just a boy.

I'm a consecrated boy, when I was just a boy and a singer
In a sunday choir, oh, my mama loves me, she loves me,
She gets down on her knees and hug me
Oh, she loves me like a rock.

She rocks me like a rock of ages and love me,
She love me, love me, love me, love me,
When I was grown to be a man,
Grown to be a man and the devil would call my name,
Grown to be a man, I'd say now who do,
Who do you think your fooling?

I'm a consummated man,
Grown to be a man,
I can snatch a little purity,
Oh, my mama loves me, she loves me

She get down on her knees and hug me,
She loves me like a rock.

She rocks me like a rock of ages and love me,
She love me, love me, love me, love me,
And if I was president,, if I was preseident,
The minute Congress call my name,
If I was president I'd say who do,
Who do you think your fooling?

Who do you think your fooling?
I've got the president you see, was the president,
I'm up on the Presidential Podium,
My mama loves me, she loves me,
She gets down on her knees and hugs me,
Like she loves me like a rock.

She rocks me like a rock of ages and love me,
She love me, love me, love me, love me,
She love me, love me, love me, love me,
She love me, love me, love me, love me,
She love me, love me, love me, loves me

About Loves Me Like a Rock

"Loves Me Like a Rock" is a song by the American singer-songwriter Paul Simon. It was the second single from his third studio album, There Goes Rhymin' Simon (1973), released on Columbia Records. It features background vocals from the Dixie Hummingbirds, a Southern black gospel group. Although the lyrics are not typically associated with gospel music, the Dixie Hummingbirds were eager to record the song with Simon, and they recorded their own version of the song soon afterward. The song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100; it was also a top five hit in Canada. It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of over one million copies. more »
