Only con is it doesn't have a back light for being able to see in the dark what temp is

Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2019

I absolutely love this thermometer. It’s great and easy to use and my toddler lets me take her temperature without hesitation and she sometimes pretends to do it herself as well. The only thing I’m not too fond of is the loud noise it makes.

I like that you dont have to touch skin for this thermometer to work!

Horrible product. Does not read consistently and is always about 2 degrees higher than the real temp. Took 10 scans back to back and not one matching reading. Needs to be re-calibrated. Went right in the trash where it belongs. Buy anything else! SMDH.

NOTE: I did not buy this product at Amazon. I bought it at Target, but am so disappointed in this product that I am determined to let everyone know how bad this thing is. The manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves. Our baby is burning up right now and we cannot get an accurate reading. ONE TIME it showed over 101 degrees, but now we can't get it to read higher than 97. When trying to read my own temperature, I cannot get it above 90 degrees. It is scary that in 30 reading between my wife and I, we can't get above 90, but our sons is consistently at a nice 98 degrees. Other problems include:

1) It beeps really loud. No silent mode and the beeping wakes the baby, or if already awake, there is no way to "sneak" the temperature. As soon as it beeps, the baby pulls away from it and starts screaming. We even tried taking the temp in the dark, which is pointless because you can't judge an accurate 1/2 inch distance, but due to the beep, the baby pulls away even more since a beep in the dark is even more terrifying.

2) No lights. Even if there were a "silent mode" (WHICH THERE IS NOT) you couldn't tell when to pull the thermometer away. There should be a light indicator that goes red when it begins, and green when it finishes.

3) No LED backlight. If by chance you have to take the measurement in the dark while they are sleeping, you can't see the temperature and have to run to another room to, hopefully before the LED screen goes blank. If you are lucky enough to get a reading, it will likely say something like 77 degrees, or whatever you have the A/C set to.

In short, this thermometer is terrible for all ages. According to this thermometer I am dead and cooling quickly.

Nope! Go buy a Magic 8 Ball, shake it over your baby, and ask it if they have a fever! The answer will be more accurate than this thing! You are supposed to “hover” the thermometer 1/2” from the baby’s forehead to get a reading. . . Have you ever tried to get a baby to hold still while you hold something in front of their face? No? What if it’s glowing and beeping? Let’s just, for arguments sake, say you have the best behaved child in the world who will sit perfectly still while you hold this thing in front of their head; how confident are you in your ability to hold the thermometer precisely 1/2” from your baby’s forhead?? Slightly closer or slightly further away and the temp is off. Oh, you think you will be extra smart and take their temp while they are sleeping? Look at you; you smart little devil! Problem - this stupid thing beeps very loudly when you turn it on, and will beep again when it takes the temp, plus a couple more beeps for good measure. My husband and I decided to randomly scan ourselves (and eventually our dog joined in) and apparently my belly button is warmer than my forehead, but it’s hard to tell because no 2 (or 3, or 4) scans of the exact same area are the same reading. Seriously, just go buy a Magic 8 Ball.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work, not accurate at all

Reviewed in Canada on October 16, 2021

Gives a different reading every time we try. Compared to an armpit thermometer, it was 2C higher (and wrong) than the actual reading. I might have gotten unlucky and have received a defective item, but not happy at all with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not accurately tell temperature

Reviewed in Canada on November 26, 2021

This product doesn’t tell temperature accurately, every time I take my sons temperature it is different. It bounces all over the place. Ranging from 34 - 37.8 all within 5 minutes of taking his temperature. I do not trust this product to tell me his temperature. Highly dissatisfied with this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed

Reviewed in Canada on November 30, 2021

Had this for a little over a month and when it turns on it gives an error message have to turn it on and off 10 to 12 times before it works, changed batteries thinking they were the problem but still not working properly. Would not recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars All The Way!!

I like that this came exactly when the seller said it would. It was well packaged and super simple to use - just unwrap and point and press the button - instant read. While I would not recommend it as a child's toy, it could easily be used by school aged children and that might be a selling point for the product as it's safe and very easy to use and in this time of Covid, who knows who has a temperature unless you are able to check it quickly and easily? I definitely recommend this item!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't rely on this product

Reviewed in Canada on November 2, 2022

Always gives a reading of 38.6. In a crisis where I got sick and was relying on this product to determine my own, and my newborn baby's temperature to see if she was getting sick, I was misled. I also used it to measure the temperature of my baby's bath water and potentially could have hurt her if I wasn't testing it myself with my elbow. This product is dangerous!

What do the Colours mean on forehead thermometer?

3 Backlight colors make fever detection fast and easy If the measured body temperature is within the normal range (96.8°F-99.5°F), the backlight will remain green. If it is elevated (99.5°F-100.3°F) the backlight will change to orange, and if it's high (>100.3°F), it will change to red.

How do I reset my digital forehead thermometer?

To reset the unit, remove the batteries, wait 2 minutes and then re-install the batteries.

Do you add 1 degree to forehead thermometer?

A temporal thermometer will read at about 0.5 to 1 degree lower than an oral thermometer, so you need to add 0.5 to 1 degree to get what your temperature would read orally. For example, if your forehead temperature read as 98.5°F, you could actually have a low-grade fever of 99.5°F or higher.
