Firm mattresses can come with a pillow top. Pillow tops generally don’t contribute much to the firmness of a mattress. They are just for comfort. Think basically a firm or medium firm mattress with a built in mattress topper. Also YMMV depending on what kind of slats or boxspring you use with it. But we had a pretty decent memory foam mattress before and we like this better.
