Apr 14, 2015 I have a 2008 Altima Sedan (Base Engine). My mechanic says that the 'torque converter clutch solenoid' is going bad which is causing the issues I am having (see below). Does anyone know where I can buy this part? I can't seem to find it anywhere online or at a local auto part store. Thanks in advance! Issue: Joined

This part will not be available in the aftermarket. It will be available from the dealer. How many miles on the car? Joined Apr 14, 2015 · 4 Posts
Discussion Starter · #3 · Apr 14, 2015 Just recently hit 80,000 miles about a month ago. I had called the dealer and they mentioned that the part can't be sold separately. Instead, they will have to replace the whole transmission...I found that surprising since the part seemed so small compared to the whole transmission.

Did they not mention this would be a warranty issue? It's covered for 10 years and 120,000 miles. I would take them up on it. Joined Apr 14, 2015 · 4 Posts
Discussion Starter · #5 · Apr 14, 2015 No they did not mention it. I'll contact them again to mention the warranty issue. Do you have a link to a document that specifies that this part is covered under the 10 year 120k warranty?

Good luck and please do. They are obviously going to want to have a look for themselves, but there's not much for them to argue if your symptoms are repeatable. Joined Aug 11, 2021 · 2 Posts

Here you go: Where is the torque converter clutch solenoid located?A torque converter clutch solenoid controls the flow of fluid to the torque converter. It is located near the transmission and the engine's rear. An electromagnetic coil controls the solenoid. It moves a plunger inside the solenoid shaft when it is activated.
Can you replace a torque converter clutch solenoid?Replacing A Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid
Whenever any of these fail, you will not be able to generate the necessary pressure in the torque converter to shift gears effectively. It is very common to replace all these parts when replacing a TCC solenoid. All of these parts can go out at the same time.
Where is the TCC valve? The 4l60e TCC Solenoid is located on the front passenger side of the transmission near the valve body.
What is a torque converter clutch solenoid? The torque converter clutch solenoid is an electronic component that helps to measure the fluid pressure and regulate how much fluid the lockup clutch receives. If the solenoid is faulty, there won't be an accurate measure of how much transmission fluid is a need which could lead to abnormal fluid pressures.
