Going into it with low set expectations, as sequels rarely measure up to the original, I was surprised how much I liked it. There are some unsavory scenes that are probably not suitable for kids. In comparison to the first movie, I felt the sexual jokes and inappropriate language were less subtle in the sequal. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. I think a person has to have an open mind when watching any sequal, if it's too much like the original it's boring and predictable. If it has too many story lines or goes in an opposite direction all together, fans are disappointed that it has nothing to do with the original story. I enjoyed the references to the original Joe Dirt, The Sopranos, It's a Wonderful Life, Silence of the Lambs, Cast Away, Forest Gump, Back to the Future, and The Wizard of Oz. I thought the original reminded me of a Trailer Park Boys Wizard of Oz more so than the sequal. The sequal actually resembled a raunchy version of Return to Oz...again just my opinion.... It has become a bit of a tradition to watch around July 4th for the fireworks scene. There are few movies I like to watch over and over, but this is one of them.
