In order to get the most of your air fryer, let’s take a look at the control knobs and what they do.

Control Knobs

Facing the oven from the front, you will notice three knobs on the right side. These three knobs are how you are going to set the right mode and cooking time for your recipes.

Temperature and Mode Setting

The uppermost control knob is used to set the air fryer toaster oven to a baking temperature or one of its’ specialized modes. You set your desired temperature or mode by turning the knob clockwise and stopping at a labeled setting.

Three-quarters of the knob is dedicated to baking temperatures.

It begins with a minimum setting of 200 degrees Fahrenheit and goes up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. After the max baking temperature is the air fry mode setting. This is the highest temperature the oven reaches.

The next mode is broil, which changes the oven from using hot air to radiant heat. The last setting is the toast mode which allows you to select your preferred toast shade on the toast timer knob.

60-minute Timer

Your oven comes with a built-in 60-minute timer to help notify you when cooking times are up. From the off position, you can either turn the knob counter-clockwise to enable an always-on mode or turn it clockwise to set a minute timer up to an hour.

It is important to note that the oven will cool down if the timer runs out. For cooking times longer than an hour or heating food on the spot, use the always-on option and set a more adequate cooking timer.

Toast Timer

The last knob on your toaster oven is specific to the oven’s Toast Mode. This knob is used to select your desired shade of toast by turning the knob clockwise and stopping at the image depicting the one you want.

Bake

There is no limit to the food baking capabilities of your black and decker airy fry toaster oven other than the size of your recipes. Your oven utilizes hot air to bake anything you can fit into it.

Whether it’s bread, cookies, lasagna, or just a TV dinner, it can be used as a more convenient oven in the kitchen or as a center cooking appliance for the workplace and traveling lifestyles.

Broil

Setting the mode control knob to broil radiates heat directly onto your dinner. This allows you to not only bake brown and crisp delicious bread but also makes it possible to get a grill-like quality out of your recipes.

Toast

The toast mode is quick and easy to use. You can lightly toast your bread or let it use air to bake brown and crunchy sides without having to figure it out through trial and error.

Air Fry

The most key feature of this toaster oven offers a new cooking method to your kitchen.

Air-frying foods has taken the world by storm as a healthy option to enjoy the delicious rich deep fried taste of fried food without the consequences of fatty oils used in deep fryers. Enjoy your favorite fried foods with no remorse.

How to Use it

Now that you’ve got an idea of what your machine can do, let’s dig into how to use it.

Since this machine has a few different options, we’ll discuss how to adjust the machine only and not any specific recipes.

Baking and Broiling

Baking and broiling are fairly straightforward. First, prepare your recipe in whatever fashion it requires.

Once the food is ready to be placed in, situate it on the bake/broil pan and place the crumb tray in the oven if you think you need it.

A little advice: It is highly recommended to always use the crumb tray. Its removability allows you to maintain a clean toaster oven with ease.

Next, you have to assess the temperature needed to cook your dish. If you’re broiling, just turn the top control knob until the marker settles on ‘Broil’. For baking temperatures, consult your recipe or the box your dish came in.

Next, either set the timer to the needed cooking time or turn it left to the always-on mode.

You may need to use multiple cycles of the minute timer or your own personal cooking timer for recipes that call for baking times longer than an hour.

Once the temperature and timer are ready, place the dish in the oven using the rack guide indents along the inside of the oven based on the amount of space needed.

Close the glass door. You may want to have hot pads when handling the oven door.

Wait for your timer to go off. Once it does, check your dish to make sure it is fully cooked.

Only handle the dish with hot pads or gloves. If everything checks out, you’re ready to go. Bon Appetit!

Making Toast

To make toast with your toaster oven, you will first want to have the oven’s baking pan ready to go. Then turn the mode control knob until it is lined up with the “Toast” option.

Place your bread into the oven. It can fit up to six slices at a time.

Once the bread is arranged in the oven, close the oven door. Now set the lowest control knob to your desired toast shade. That’s it! The last knob acts as a timer and will ding to notify you the toast is ready.

It will also stop the high intensity hot air to prevent burning your bread.

Unlike a pop-up toaster oven, you will need to take the toaster out of the oven tray. Either give the oven time to cool off before handling or use hot pads and tongs to remove the toast.

The inside of the oven gets hot and is dangerous to the touch.

Air Frying Food

To air fry in your toaster oven, all you need is the dish you want to fry and the fryer basket. Prepare your dish in the air fryer basket and try to spread it evenly if it is a food like french fries or chicken fingers.

Once the food is in the tray, close the door. Turn the temperature control knob to “Air Fry”. Now, set the timer to 20 then to the indicated time of either the recipe you are following or the package it came from.

Friendly advice: Most frozen foods don’t have an air fry time recorded on their package but usually have a fry time. Add 2-3 minutes to the recommended fry time to air fry.

Air frying doesn’t have flash heat like deep fryer oils. This means it takes some time to reach the heat needed properly and you should compensate for that heating time when setting your timer.
