Those were soooo great - no more waiting for my husband to crank the gas ones!! - that I wanted to try this as well. It has really lived up to my expectations! It is very light and eay to maneuver and cuts larger branches than the gas trimmer. With the batteries from the other 2 tools, I have more than enough power to get through my job. I just charge the batteries after every use, so I always have a fresh one. We live on an acre lot with about a third of it covered with large azelea beds (which were about head high!!) and this whacked them right off!! It's nice and light and it works well on the light duty shrubbery around the house. It's light enough to use one hand to reach behind into the tight spots between the house and the shrubs. I always dreaded bringing out the extension cords. No More!. Especially around the pool area, this tool is worth buying. It got jammed a couple times in the thicker branches, but just take out the battery and pull the branch out and you're back in business. I didn't do a great job this year on the shrubs, but since I got this they look great. My wife was amazed at how good it looks and how fast I finished up. Now if I could only get her to rake up the clippings..... Battery charges faster than my 18 v and the charge lasts longer. Have had the B&D with 18v for several years. It still works but not as sharp or powerful as the 20 v and the batteries weigh more. Think I will retire it and buy another 20 v for backup. I am almost 80 years old and this is so easy to use. It's been years since I've needed a new hedge trimmer and was leary about getting a cordless hedge trimmer, but I took a chance and purchased this 22 inch, 20 volt cordless hedge trimmer. I immediately noticed how light this new trimmer was, but got to work anyway on clipping my over-grown hedge. I can say that this trimmer EXCEEDED all of my expectations. I kept waiting for this trimmer to fail me because I kept thinking how can this light cordless outperform my old and heavy, corded hedge trimmer? Well, it did! This new trimmer cut and trimmed my hedges with a lot of power and precision. Even the larger branches on my hedge were cut with little effort. Also the ease of not tripping over a power cord is priceless. I would HIGHLY recommend the Black and Decker 20-volt cordless hedge trimmer to anyone who has hedges to trim. I had a lot of hedges to trim and completed almost all of them on a single battery charge. The trimmer has plenty of power and didn't have any problem cutting thick branches. It is great not having to mess with an extension cord. The quality of the trimmer, battery, and charger is excellent. The only thing Black & Decker could improve is to provide a better quality blade cover. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. The battery lasts about 45 mins to an hour on a single charge. This would be fine if the battery didn't take several hours to recharge. Also, a spare batter is not available at the store - you must order it online. For me, this trimmer wasn't a workable option b/c I have a 120-foot-long privacy hedge that's about 9 feet tall and 6 feet wide. However, if you have a small to medium hedge, this is a great tool. If so, please allow the battery to cool, then reinsert the battery on charger to try charging again.
