OPEN NOW Today: Open 24 Hours Add a Photo Gary Gene Smith, 67, of Jarrell, Texas passed away on April 20, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Paraneoplastic Syndrome. Gary was born in Georgetown, Texas on November 8, 1954 to L.R. and Lillian Smith of Jarrell, Texas. Gary resided in Jarrell, Texas with his parents and sister, Peggy. He graduated from Jarrell High School and continued his education at Temple Junior College to receive his Air Conditioning and Heating certification. He worked for a couple of businesses before starting his own air conditioning and heating company, Smith Air Conditioning and Heating. His customers were a huge priority to him, and he strived to be fair and honest. Throughout his years, he sponsored many youth sports teams and donated to a variety of charities and organizations. He retired in 2019 after working more than 40 years in the HVAC service industry. Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a huge sports fan. He spent a lot of time in fishing tournaments with his friends, as well as many hours patiently waiting for the “big buck.” Gary was married to Janet on January 7, 1978. They were married for 44 years. Each year for their anniversary, he bought Janet a bouquet of roses based on the number of years they were married. Gary is preceded in death by his father, L.R. Smith and his sister, Peggy Bartek. Gary is survived by his mother, Lillian Smith; his wife, Janet Smith; his children Holly Shafer (Dustin) and Michael Smith; and his grandson, Colton Shafer. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Gary. Services will be held at the Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 26, from 5:00-7:00 and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at 10:00 AM. Burial at Corn Hill Cemetery in Jarrell, Texas following the service. |
