Instagram notifications keep users updated about what is happening on the image-sharing platform when they are not scrolling through the app. Instagram notifications give a quick summary of post notifications, people you follow, likes and comments. Here we have discussed some troubleshooting tips that will help you to get these notifications once again.
Allow Instagram notifications
Follow these steps to enable on iOS:
Step 1 - Go to the Settings app and select Notifications
Step 2 - Find Instagram in the Notification Style section and tap on it
Step 3 - Turn on the slider that is present next to Allow Notifications. The slider will turn green when the notifications are turned on
Follow these steps to enable on Android:
Step 1 - Go to the Settings app and select Apps and notifications from the list
Step 2 - Scroll through the list to find Instagram and select it
Step 3 - Select Notifications and then turn on the slider beside All Instagram Notifications. The slider will turn blue and white when the notifications are turned on.
Turn on notification from the app
Follow these steps to turn on Instagram notifications from within the app on both iPhone or Android:
Step 1 - Open the Instagram app and tap on the profile icon that is present at the bottom-right of the display.
Step 2 - Tap on the menu button at the top-right of the screen that is denoted with three horizontal lines and then tap Settings.
Step 3 - Select Notifications
Step 4 - Select the different types of notifications available to change the settings. For instance, in the Posts, Comments and Stories section, either you can turn the notifications for likes off completely or turn them on for people you follow or for everyone on Instagram.
Clear app cache
Clearing your Instagram cache can be another possible fix if you're not receiving notifications. It will also clear up space on your phone. Delete and reinstall the app if you have an iPhone, or go to the Settings app on Android to clear the app cache. It is important to note that clearing the app’s cache on iPhone will automatically log you out and you'll have to log in again to use Instagram and see notifications.
Check Do Not Disturb or Battery Saver mode
If the Do Not Disturb or the Low Power mode is turned on, it can be a reason for you to not be able to get Instagram notifications. The Do Not Disturb feature can be found on both iPhone and Android that silences notifications including -- texts, calls and other push notifications from apps like Instagram.
When you activate the Battery Saver modes on iPhone and Android. It turns off the push notifications temporarily. Ensure that both these features are turned off if your Instagram notifications aren't working.
Check the internet connection
An active internet connection is needed to use Instagram and receive push notifications from the app. If the internet connection seems to be a problem, try troubleshooting your device’s network connection to check if that fixes the notification issue.
Update to the latest version of the app
If you don’t have the most up-to-date version of the Instagram app it can cause the app to face some issues while notifying users. Update the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device to resolve this issue. Check for the available updates in the App Store on iOS or Google Play Store on Android.
If updating the app doesn't fix the notification issue, uninstall Instagram and then reinstall it. Press and hold the Instagram icon and tap Remove App to delete it from iPhone. Android users can visit the Play Store and select the profile icon. Then go to Manage apps & devices and select Manage. Tap on Instagram and uninstall the app
Update the operating system of the device
Make sure that your device is running the latest OS that is available for it, as it may help resolve app issues. Multiple app updates and system updates usually come with new features and bug fixes.
Reboot your device
Try rebooting your phone if this problem persists after all the above troubleshooting. Press and hold the power and volume up button simultaneously and glide your finger across the slider to turn off your iPhone. On the other hand, if you are using an Android device, press and hold the power button and then select the Power Off option.
