Also received CP14 notice and Post Office informed the PO Box 742562 does not come up with Zipcode 45280. After several attempts to speak with IRS, started other methods of checking. I came up with a site to pay your bill, that appears to be for various insurance companies such as Progressive, Safeco, etc. listing the phone numbers, acceptable credit cards for payment and address to mail payment. Below is what I found:

Company: TITAN 800-848-2687 Titan.com EFT,Visa,MasterCard
PO Box 742562, Cincinnati, OH 45274-2562 I called 800-848-2687 5:11 pm Eastern time and the answering machine said NATIONWIDE.

PERHAPS IRS COULD ANSWER THIS? I PLAN TO CALL THE 800-848-2687 AGAIN DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS AND SEE WHAT THAT NATIONWIDE OFFICE SAYS.

I was one of those who completed and electronically filed just prior to President's Biden announcement that the first $10,200.00 of employment wages would be income tax free.
My return was calculated with my unemployment pay taxed just like my normal salary and I ended up owing money this year.
Instead of filing an amended return immediately the IRS issued a memo to NOT do an amended return right a way and stated those returns filed prior to the Presidents announcement would be internally corrected and you would be notified if the amount you owed had changed OR if you went from owing to receiving money back.
I did a "mock" amended return and I went from owing to getting money back.
So I did not send in a check since based on the information published that the IRS they would amend my return and see that I did not owe based on this new unemployment income tax credit.
Fast forward to this weekend.
I get a letter from the IRS with a statement that says " You submitted your tax return but we did not receive the funds you owe".
The paperwork looks much like a credit card statement with a payment coupon attached and a return envelope.
I called the IRS and was basically told after speaking with two individuals with the last person being in "collections" agent that I should send in the payment and when they get around to my original return, they will make the adjustment and that I will get back my initial payment plus the amount the adjusted return indicates I am owed.
So I get it all together today and I went to the post office since I wanted to get tracking on this envelope so I had proof as to when it was delivered.
The address on the coupon is:
Internal Revenue Service
P.O. Box 742562
Cincinnati OH 45280-2562
The lady at the post office says that the PO box listed does not correspond with the zip code and that a search of the PO box comes up with a different zip code and she says " do you want me to send it there"??.
So now I am frazzled since I don't need this envelope with all my personal information roaming around the eastern seaboard.
I came back to my office and I googled this and I found a forum where other people had done the same thing as me and then mailed the check in to this address on the payment coupon only to have it returned "undeliverable"....
I just tried to call back into the IRS and they are not accepting anymore calls at the moment due to a higher than normal amount of calls and to try back another time.
Anyone else going through this????

We just got an Excise Tax intent to levy letter from the IRS...said it's the 2nd notice...with that same P.O. Box. I think it's sketchy. But my co-workers are concerned and said to just pay it. I'm curious to know what ended up happening with your situation?

I received a similar demand for payment from IRS recently, and when I went to the post office to mail the letter by certified mail with return receipt, the USPS told me that the zip code for PO BOX 742562 is actually 45274 (not 45280) and they have had other people come in the post office encountering that same issue. So I allowed USPS to change that address to:

PO BOX 74256, Cincinnati, OH 45274-2562

The letter was mailed on 9/24/2021, received 9/27/2021, and the check (made out to the "US Treasury," so any one else shouldn't be able to cash/deposit it) was deposited on 9/30/2021. So I'm pretty certain the 45274 that the USPS gave is legit.

And if the zip code is left as 45280, I've seen discussions on other forums where the letters were "returned undeliverable as addressed, unable to forward" (https://www.caltax.com/forums/topic/irs-balance-due-notices-cp-14-mailing-address-issue/).

Anyhow, just thought I'd share my experience. After mailing it at the post office with the updated zip code, I came home and searched online to see if there's any discussion about it, and sure enough found a few threads here and there about it, however, there weren't any definitive resolutions posted, so I thought I'd go ahead and share my experience here.

Just realized that the PO Box I wrote in prior comment is missing a 2 at the end.

Why don't you just go online to the IRS web site Direct Pay | Internal Revenue Service and pay them right out of your checking account? I know that a payment by credit card cost a fee, but I don't believe an authorization to withdraw from your checking has an associated fee.

And don't be concerned that the IRS will know your account number. If you send them a check, they will know it then as well since the bank, and account number is on the check.
