1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/07/2020

2020 Jeep wrangle jl with less than 3000 miles will periodically lose acceleration and not go past 3 gear. This has happened multiple times after driving for a bit and attempting to accelerate from a red light or stop sign. I have noticed if you turn off the vehicle and back on, it seems to fix the problem but the unexpected loss of acceleration and ability to reach normal operating speed has put me in danger situations numerous times. Not sure if it is related but I also noted that the auto start/stop warning light was on the last time it happened.

2 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/16/2020

We tried to start the Jeep at our home (street) and it would not start. But the electrical system started flickering. After some research, we decided to have the battery checked. The battery was used for 34 months of driving. Interstate battery tested it and it was low. We decided to buy a new one and installed it. Now the Jeep starts but there is a service shifter warning light and the gear shifter does not light up. We cannot put it into gear. There are numerous complaints on different Jeep forums. Some dealers cannot solve the issue, while other find that different harnesses are the problem. Our vehicle is out of warranty, and believe Jeep should initiate a recall to correct this problem for its customers.

3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/25/2019

Just bought a 2018 Wrangler jl leftover/ brand new off the lot. I immediately noticed that the steering is very loose and difficult to control. This is especially true in wind or if driving 55 miles per hour or more. My husband refuses to drive the car because he feels unsafe doing so. I get very nervous as well. I'm constantly having to adjust the wheel to stay on the road. The second issue is that sometimes when I set the cruise control it will just keep going past my designated speed I chose unless I turn it off. Lastly my car seems to not shift gears down. It throttles and revs. When I took it to be looked at I was told it's no big deal. Well it is! even my local mechanic said he feels that it's not switching properly between gears. I've waited 22 years to buy my first Wrangler and I paid $42000 for it. It should not do any of this! it's brand new. It's also a safety hazard. I could get into a major accident! I need help with these things please. Stand behind your product. This is my first Wrangler but my 4th Jeep. I also talked my mom and brother into buying new Jeeps the same week I did last month! my contact is 315-723-6849. Lisa addison wilson. I'd like call back so someone can help me. Thank you.

6 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/05/2017

The vehicle will not stay in 1st gear (manual 6 speed). You must hold the shifter, with force in first gear or else it "pops out". . . Makes a bad noise when doing so. I looked on Jeep forums and there are 5 pages or more of people complaining of this exact issue. Its a safety issue. If you pull into an intersection to make a turn, and are not holding the shifter with enough force and it pops out of gear, you might get hit by an oncoming car, since you've stopped going forward. Pulling away from a stop light or stop sign, the car behind you might slam into you, because you started to go then all of a sudden stopped going forward. This is a huge problem with these manual transmission Wranglers - this should be a recall. This is not a random occurrance. This happens every time.

7 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

Jeep will not hold first gear in. Every time it is put into first gear, the shifter is kicked out. The clutch was pushed in completely when put into gear and the problem still occurs. The issue usually happens at about 5 mph and below and sometimes when completely stopped. This issue has nearly caused multiple accidents due to the inability to be able accelerate as needed. One of the "solutions" is to use second gear to take off and completely bypass the first gear which will speed up the wear on the clutch causing premature replacement.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 1995 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/02/2016

Consumer noticed vehicle's transmission slipping, minor atf leak, & had vehicle inspected. Atf was heavily contaminated by particulate matter generated by mechanical waste. No leak was initially found upon inspection, however one was visibly apparent after inspection as atf sprayed from an unknown source across both ends of the undercarriage after turning out of a parking lot and onto a main road. Atf began to burn off of vehicle creating a thick smoke, making it difficult for other drivers to see and they avoided consumer's vehicle. Consumer put her hazards on without the ability to accelerate regardless of how hard consumer pressed on gas. High rpms were noted then and the weeks prior. After attempting to park on a sloped residential driveway, the vehicle failed to go into gear and the parking brake was the only thing preventing it from rolling back down. Approximately 4. 5 quarts of atf leaked and the vehicle was towed to repair facility where it awaits a suitable replacement transmission after diagnosis of transmission failure. Similarities between this and other incidents have been noted, and in previous instances, Chrysler has blamed trim options (consumer's vehicle is a 4 cyl 2. 5 l 3 speed automatic rio grande edition 4wd) as the reason for such issues- - - - - -however, Jeep also advertised a "lifetime guarantee" relating to transmission performance. Forum users offer 60k miles as an acceptable definition of "lifetime" however this consumer believes such claims should be interpreted to be literal and repair or reimburse for those covered repairs under their guarantee. Approximate mileage was 101k.

9 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/09/2015

I was driving downhill on the freeway (just east of snowville, ut) at approx 70 mph (speed limit 80), when the Jeep suddenly shifted into a much lower gear (1st or 2nd). Of course we spun out--first one way, then the other as I fought for control I either got it into neutral or it went into neutral itself and I regained control and got it to the side of the road. I was very lucky not to have rolled the vehicle or hit other vehicles, and my wife said she would have rolled it. After I got it to the side of the road, it would not go into gear for sometime and the engine light went on. After three or four tries, it eventually went into gear and the engine light stayed on, and we drove the 60 miles or so back home at a much slower speed. I drove it to the dealer the following day and they said to bring it back on Monday, which I did and they kept it several days but could not find the problem. My wife won't drive the vehicle at all now, and I am afraid to drive it at freeway speeds, though it now seems to be driving ok. Of course I'm concerned that this might happen to me again, but I'm also concerned that it might happen to someone with less driving experience and kill someone.

16 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/06/2010

I have a manual transmission, when accelerating in first gear, the transmission violently jumps out of gear. At first I thought it was because I was rusty. Then I attributed it to not having the gear in far enough. Based on seeing the other complaints it looks like I'm not the only one that has been struggling with this problem. It definitely gives me pause when attempting to pull into traffic, and has been very intimidating to my 17 year old new driver. By the time I realized it wasn't just me the Jeep was out of warranty.

Why is my Jeep Wrangler not shifting?

The first, and easiest to remedy, is low transmission fluid or a dirty transmission filter. A worn or stuck pressure solenoid can prevent the transmission from keeping proper fluid pressure, which will often affect shifting from first to third. The problem can also be caused by a wiring or sensor failure.

Do Jeep Wranglers have transmission problems?

The iconic Jeep Wrangler JK model has not gone without its fair share of transmission shifting problems over the past several years. Over many years, Jeep owners have had to deal with transmission issues, some of which were so severe that they resulted in recalls.

Why is my jeep stuck in park?

If your Jeep is stuck in park and won't start, the first thing you should do is check the battery. A dead or dying battery is one of the most common reasons a Jeep won't start. In addition, it can cause the transmission to be stuck in park.
