Over time, they turn to drugs or alcohol as a way of handling some of the symptoms. This may appear to work for a while, but it is not effective and can make the problem worse.

Other patients will start with the alcohol or drug addiction. The condition through that addiction can get so bad that the patient will start to develop a mental health illness that needs treated. No matter which of these two situations happened, the patient has both entwined together and it is important to treat both if the patient wishes to fight the addiction.
