Facts about St Patrick for children

Here are some facts about the life of St Patrick for children.:

• Saint Patrick was born in Wales, in the late 4th century, and his real name was Maewyn Succat.
• When he was 16, he was captured from by raiders and sold as a slave to an Irish farmer.
• Patrick escaped from Ireland and got back to Wales. 
• He went to study to become a priest in St. Martin’s Monastery, in Tours, France. 
• Patrick went back to Ireland and used the shamrock to explain about the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit
• For 60 years, Patrick travelled all around Ireland, telling people about Christianity. 
• He died in County Down on the 17th of March 461 - what is now celebrated as St. Patrick’s Day.
