Solid Green Test Silence light is working and the unit tests properly. On 2 units the small LED is flashing once every 60 seconds with no audible alarm or chirp. Dilemma, alarms were activated audible in the middle of the night with no obvious issue of Smoke or Carbon Monoxide. Using a separate Carton Monoxide sniffing unit, no Carbon Monoxide was detected. Units are 2years old and have a 10 year life span? I'm at a total loss. and have no idea what the issue could be. If anyone has had the same issue and resolved it, I would like to know how and what the problem is. Users Manual does not address this specific issue. I have the same issue. One of the SC9120B units in my house continued to flash red. I replaced the battery multiple times to ensure the battery is good and it still happened. When I hit and held the test button, it reset to green.

Neither of the two answers (below) are correct. The correct answer will depend on which model you own and what conditions exist while red LED is blinking and ow fast it is blinking. The correct answer will depend on which model you own and what conditions exist while red LED is blinking and ow fast it is blinking. The 9120 is designed to be "hard wired" into your home's electricity. The 9120B is also designed to be hard wired to your home's electrical system but has a battery backup. Normal operation when under AC power = green LED on; flashing red LED once/minute. Normal operation when used with battery only, green LED off & red LED flashes once per minute. During testing, red LED flashes once per second and horn signals with 3 beeps, silence, then another three beeps. Low or missing battery (9120B only), red LED flashes once per minute and alarm "chirps" once per minute. During an alarm condition, if units are interconnected, the red LED flashes rapidly on the unit that triggered the alarm while the red LED on the other interconnected units will be off but all units are alternating 3 beeps with a pause. If a unit goes off and is silenced by the homeowner, the red LED will flash once every 10 seconds. There is a nice little easy to understand chart on page 4 of the User's Manual that accompanies each unit sold which I used as the source for the above information and you should consult for complete information. If you do not have this manual, I am sure that you can Google, First Alert and find their website and download a PDF version. see less Neither of the two answers (below) are correct. The First Alert alarm I purchased is not battery operated, but wired with existing electric house wiring. If your is the same it is either wired wrong or perhaps faulty.

How do I turn off the red light on my smoke detector?

If you want to manually reset the smoke detector so that the red blinking light will stop, you can press the test/silence button for a few seconds. If your device includes a keypad press “*72” or if your smoke detector is hardwired, look for a reset button to push and hold for 20 seconds.
