What happens when you factory reset your oculus quest 2

This clip shows two ways to factory reset an Oculus Quest headset: using your phone or using the headset itself.

To perform a factory reset using your phone:

  1. Open the Oculus app on your phone.
  2. Tap Devices in the bottom menu.
  3. Tap the headset connected to your phone
  4. Tap Advanced Settings.
  5. Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

To perform a factory reset using the headset:

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

NOTES:

  • Performing a factory reset is irreversible and will remove all account information, downloaded games, and content from the headset.
  • Performing a factory reset won’t remove content you’ve purchased or downloaded from your account.

Games are tied to your account like every single gaming service (I think) known to man.

Factory reset does what the term describes: it resets the headset to a factory state, wiping the storage. You lose all your save data (unless the game has cloud saves) and have to go through the process of setting up the headset again. Then you just download the apps again.

Doubtful you will do anything that would require a factory reset. If anything, you'd just have to delete Beat Saber and download it again from the store and try re-patching it. It's not a hard thing to do for even tech skill deficient people. Just follow one of the guides that have been posted here in the past. Do a search on this if you haven't already.

  • You should factory reset your Oculus Quest before you sell or give it away, or if the device has stopped working properly.
  • You can factory reset an Oculus Quest using the buttons on the headset itself, or with the Oculus app on your iPhone or Android device.
  • A factory reset will wipe all the data off your headset, including your account information, but is often the best way to fix software glitches.

Remember what it was like when your Oculus Quest headset was brand new, right out of the box? No glitches, no lag, no freezing.

If your Quest isn't running as smoothly these days, or if you're looking to resell it to someone else, you might want to perform a factory reset on it.

A factory reset will wipe all the data off of the Oculus Quest, including your account information and downloaded games. Your account won't be deleted, and you'll still own all your purchased games — you'll just need to add them back onto the headset.
