Hi, I'll be in NY (and America) for the first time, staying for 3 weeks. Usually, when I travel I just buy a sim card at the airport or nearby and activate a prepaid mobile internet. Is it possible to do this in NYC as well? I'm landing on JFK.
I've found ultramobile with 3GB for $30 but I have no idea if it's legit and if I can easily buy this at the airport. I think I'd be good with 1-2GB too.

Do not buy a SIM at the airport - you will get ripped off.

You should be able to get a SIM at a drugstore or carrier's storefront and then sign up for a prepaid plan either in the store or on the web.

As far as I know T-mobile has the lowest prices for prepaid at the moment. They make it damned hard to find the information on their site because they want you in the $40+ a month plans but here: https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans/connect

I would look to the traveler, tech and mobile phone sub reddits.

Most people here are unaware of these things as they live here and do not need to use it.

3gb for 30usd? thats insane! If your phone has eSim capability you can use Airalo, its an app and its much cheaper (you can buy the same 3gb for 11usd or 10gb for the same 30usd) it worked perfectly for me
